Two of the most referenced English encyclopedias about children’s literature include entries on children’s literature in Iran: The Oxford Encyclopedia of Children’s Literature and International Companion Encyclopedia of Children’s Literature.

In the International Companion Encyclopedia of Children’s Literature, edited by Peter Hunt, the entry on Iran opens with an introduction to the poem Drakht-i Asurig and children’s literature in Ancient Persia and then follows the thread to the contemporary era.

The Oxford Encyclopedia of Children’s Literature, edited by Jack Zipes, begins its entry around the Iranian constitutional revolution and then gives an overview of the contemporary status of the filed. The important point about the two entries is that they both mention the current affairs of Iranian children’s literature; that is why I am also mentioned there, among other prominent writers and critics.
