I met the principal of a famous primary school in Tehran a few days ago. He asked my advice about how to encourage his students to read. I suggested that he should get his students joined the children book club cup and gave him some explanations.

As I got home, I checked my whatsapp to see some video letters from Khavar book reading club members in Gelar village, Evaz city, Fars province. I spent the last summer in the village, when their club had just formed.

In all the messages, children said that they had barely been able to communicate with people before joining the club and discussing about what they read. It boosted their confidence.

Reminding me of my last visit, one of them said she was so shy that she couldn’t talk to me last time. she invited me to the village so I could see how influential the club was on her.

These messages were the best reason why children should join such clubs. I forwarded them to the principal. “Amazing. Thank you. So what should we do to start?” he replied a few minutes later.
